I actually had to check and see what day it was, I thought it was only Tuesday and surprised to see it is actually Thursday. It has been non-stop running around taking kids to school and running to the store for more and more cleaning supplies. Rich started demolition on Monday and Tuesday, ripping out carpet and tearing down walls. On the walls, that are soluble, I have the job of ruthlessly scrapping off the large swirls of Spackle for the resurfacing next week. These kids are going to have the best rooms possible. It's almost scary that someone actually did this to the house on purpose. I somehow thought we had a home that had been well preserved through the ages, it's only 58 years old, but truthfully, someone sheetrocked almost every room in the house. I'm sad as that is not a good idea when you could have "real walls," but now that the house has owners who believe in quality, we will be replacing everything with quality. This means that all the moldings will have to be removed and replaced. The originals are NOT the originals, at one point someone just put up basic boards and called it home. Rich bought me this fabulous book on crown moldings and ideas of how I can replace them with very artistic designs. I'm actually excited about replacing them. First things first, the bathroom..... Oh my, we have decided to just tile the kids bathroom. Good news is, the previous owners left a stack of white tiles in the laundry room. We will go buy some different tiles to throw in there and add an artistic view but what a savings, tile is expensive! They even left 8 tile soap holders and 5 toilet paper holders? I don't know, there's only 3 bathrooms, one of which will be taken out and made into one large bathroom.
As for the kids, they are all in school and love it. Peter has already caused problems as yesterday in Culinary class he dyed the muffin mix red and was asked to dump his muffin mix and sit down. Give me a break, he said he thought it was vanilla as all the canisters are the same and not labeled. I can see that happening but I'm sure there's more to the story? We're talking about Peter here.
Ian desperately needs his own car, we are giving him the Honda as soon as he has a job to pay for his own insurance, but having your own job requires living in the same town at which this point we don't.
Abby is having a hard time adjusting to being around other kids. She gets along well with others but tells me their cursing is unbearable and something about the boys at lunch playing with the wieners from the corn dogs and being perverted. Boys are so gross! Plus there are NO girly girls in her class, tomboys. Abby is beyond girly and sad that there is no one in her class who likes "Camp Rock". Bekah is happy to be in school again and looks forward to soccer try outs on the 20th.
The babies, well, I can't afford a sitter at this point so they run a muck through the house. I cleaned my bedroom yesterday so that will be their playroom until I clean the rest of the house. There are cob webs everywhere, full of palmetto bug carcasses and such. Everything has MOLD on it and has to be scrubbed. It took me all day yesterday to clean one room from ceiling to floor. Today, once I get going, I will be working on the kitchen. Not sure what time next year I will be getting new cabinets so I will have to scrub what I have and make it work. No problem, I can deal with it. I just want to get my kids in their places and happy, that's all that matters! Well, I need to get cleaning in this hotel room before I leave to clean the house. I love you all and hope your having a super week! Nancy Lee
